1) Be realistic about how much space you actually need.

The bigger the house, the more products and energy you will use in the long run. Be conscious of the space you’re creating and think if you need to have those extra bathrooms. Instead of creating another room that would need heating, consider a sunroom or a greenhouse as an extra space.
2)Insulate Properly.

Get your house inspected to see if it is properly insulated. This can be a great energy saver for heating and cooling your house in the long run. This will not only result in a more eco friendly home, it will have you reaping in the saving!

3) Use sturdy materials.

A lot of things can be refurbished and used again or even be turned into brand new items. But if you want to create new items for your home, think ethically and logicallyabout the materials you use for them to be long lasting.
4) Source materials produced locally and Plant California Native Plants!

You can salvage from local thrift stores and salvage yards. This brings uniqueness to your home and as well as gives life to new items! If you’re redoing your front yard, put emphasis on planting California native plants.

5) Support Local Businesses

Local businesses have local connections. When you use and shop local you are supporting independent contractors who often source and partner with other local crafts people in doing their work. Hiring one small business to do a remodel can create a chain of local small business stimulation which not only helps you have greater impact in your community but often a more eco friendly home!

Comment below if you have implemented any of these with your home and share with a friend that could use the tips!

Don't you think it is just faking that you have an eco-friendly house and you are not that kind of person at all? Of course, it doesn't make sense at all. I hope that all of us would understand this one so we would have an idea on how we can achieve this kind of house.
