A beautifully designed home is more than furniture and colors—it’s filled with life and love. For me, that love extends to animals. I’m passionate about creating pet-friendly spaces and supporting rescue groups like Love Second Chances and the House Rabbit Society. Their work inspires me, and I’m excited to share why they matter—and how you can help. Designing with Animals in Mind Did you know that over 6.3 million companion animals enter U.S. shelters each year, and that rabbits are the third most abandoned pet after dogs and cats? According to the ASPCA, around 3.1 million dogs and 3.2 million cats enter shelters annually — and many never find a permanent home. The House Rabbit Society notes that rabbits are often surrendered simply due to misunderstandings about their care. This is why the cause is so close to my heart. Our homes should be safe, loving spaces for everyone — pets included. When I design, I always ask: “Who lives here — and how do they really live?” I love helping clients create interiors that are as functional and beautiful for their pets as they are for their families. From stain-resistant fabrics to built-in pet spaces, thoughtful design can reflect the joy and love animals bring into our lives — and supporting rescues is one way I give that love back 🐶 Love Second Chances https://lovesecondchances.org/ Love Second Chances is a nonprofit that rescues dogs, many from high-kill shelters in Asia, and finds them loving homes in the U.S. What I love most about their mission is their commitment to dogs that are often forgotten — the ones who truly need a second chance. Their foster-based model means dogs are cared for in homes, not kennels, and every rescue story they share is a reminder of just how resilient and loving these animals are. Here’s how you can help:
🐰 House Rabbit Society https://houserabbit.org/ I’ve always had a soft spot for bunnies — they’re affectionate, curious, and incredibly intelligent. The House Rabbit Society is a national nonprofit that rescues rabbits and educates people on how to properly care for them. Many people don’t realize rabbits are the third most abandoned pet in the U.S., and they often end up in shelters unequipped to handle their needs. What I admire most about HRS is their advocacy for keeping rabbits indoors and treating them as full-fledged family members — something that aligns perfectly with how I view home and heart. You can support them by:
My love for animals and design are one and the same. A home should be safe, joyful, and loving for everyone inside. That’s why I support these organizations—and hope you will too. Whether through donations, adoption, or sharing their message, your help brings love and life to animals in need. Great design isn’t just how a space looks—it’s how it feels and who you share it with.
